Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and process prior authorization (P.A.) requests in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.

  • Communicate effectively with prescribers, healthcare professionals, and insurance representatives to obtain necessary information for P.A. determinations.

  • Accurately document all interactions and decisions in the pharmacy management system.

  • Provide updates to patients and providers regarding the status of prior authorizations.

  • Identify and resolve coverage issues and coordinate alternative solutions where necessary.

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and CVS Healths policies for confidentiality and patient safety.

  • Support team members in maintaining workflow efficiency and achieving departmental goals.

  • Participate in ongoing training sessions and process improvement initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Active Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) through PTCB or equivalent state licensing.

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in a related field preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy benefit management (PBM) and insurance authorization processes.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal.

  • Proficient computer skills and familiarity with pharmacy systems (e.g., ScriptPro, Epic, or similar).

  • Ability to multitask and manage a high volume of requests in a remote environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.

  • Must have a secure home office setup with reliable internet connectivity.

Experience

  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience working as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail, clinical, or PBM environment.

  • Prior experience in prior authorization, call center, or insurance claim processing is highly preferred.

  • Remote work experience is a plus.

Working Hours

  • Full-time position with flexible scheduling options.

  • Typical shifts fall between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM (local time), Monday through Friday.

  • Occasional weekend or holiday coverage may be required based on business needs.
